Principal's Message
April 2012
Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,
After a wonderful early start to the season, it seems that Spring is indeed finally here! The warm days remind us of all that spring has to offer: new growth and the renewed energy that comes with it!
'April showers bring May flowers.' We appreciate your efforts in sending your child ready to learn and ready to handle the wet weather. This includes providing splash pants, rubber boots, rain coat and thinner gloves or mittens so that recess can be an enjoyable time.
It's hard to believe how fast the school year is flying by, but there is still much to accomplish. I continue to be amazed at the energy and enthusiasm of our staff, students and parent community.
We celebrated 'International Day of Pink', allowing students an opportunity to show their solidarity in supporting diversity, inclusion and acceptance. At North Gower PS, everyone is valuable. Everyone counts.
As Earth Day approaches, Mrs. Noonan and the Spirit Committee have events planned, highlighting the importance of taking care of our beautiful planet. Many of our children's attitudes are influenced by what they see and learn in school. Learning to help others and how they can make a difference in the world is beneficial to them and our communities. Stay tuned!
Many activities have been successfully completed, and more are still planned, such as exciting trips for students. Our School Council has played a large part in helping to ensure that students have a rich and vibrant school experience by providing funds for a variety of field trips. This is much appreciated!
Our teachers have been taking part in a variety of workshops offered by the OCDSB. This embodies the spirit of 'life-long learning.' You too can help your child on their own learning journey. Learning happens everywhere! Encourage your child to listen, reflect and respond to the things they see around them. This can be as simple as talking about the day's events at the dinner table or before bedtime. 'Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere'

Happy Spring everyone!
